Form Atilim Makina Ltd have, in addition to custom specifications, designed a full range of standard control systems for atmosphere furnaces. This document develops the theme from basic atmosphere control, through programmable heat chamber systems to floor to floor fully automated control systems. Primarily aimed at the batch furnace market the options for continuous furnaces are also included. For convenience carbon potential will be used to illustrate examples as necessary.
Common Features of FAM Control Systems
All Form Atilim systems utilise zirconia based oxygen probes for the measurement of furnace atmosphere conditions.
Control systems can be applied for modenization purpose to old type furnaces or furnaces requiring new automatic control.
Commen feature of all systems are, that all can perform necassery basic process required for carbon potantial control.
Form Atilim Makina Ltd. is giving spare part, modernization and maintenance service to all type of furnace control systems. You can contact for oxygen sensors, which are compatible to all systems, for more information and requiry.
Form Atilim Makina Ltd. provides all technical supply, including installation, start-up and following services. For installation, start-up and training of personnel a technical person is provided from Form Atilim Makina.
There are 4 types of main FAM control systems :
1. CarbPC Furnace Atmosphere Control System
2. CarbPro Furnace Atmosphere Control System
3. CarbPro Programmable Heat Chamber Cycle Control System
4. Computer Control, Monitoring And Documantation System
1. CarbPC Furnace Atmosphere Control System:
The CarbPC instrument performs basic atmosphere control using either calculated dewpoint or carbon potential. This is a control only system that cannot be expanded at a later date and has no cycle programming capability. The control output from the instrument may be used with enrichment gas alone or with enrichment gas plus dilution air (if required) controlled in each case using a solenoid valve. In addition to basic control the CarbPC system has built in probe care features such as Probe Impedance testing, Probe Recovery test and sophisticated Probe Clean routines. All of these tests can be performed in isolation or automatically at given time intervals, the results from the previous tests can be displayed.
Main Advantages:
* Carbon Potential or Dewpoint control.
* Ideal for 'Continuous' style furnaces, where no programming is required.
* Ideal for 'Batch' style furnaces, where no programming is required.
* Built in Probe Care features for probe life monitoring.
Applications:
* Simple Batch Furnace control (%Carbon oniy).
* Simple zone control in continuous furnaces.
* Endothermic Gas generators.
2. CarbPro Furnace Atmosphere Control System:
The CarbPro instrument performs basic atmosphere control using either calculated dewpoint or carbon potential. The carbon potential setpoint can be programmed against time to give the required treatment profile, the system is capable of expansion at a later date to include a slave temperature instrument (see below). The control options are similar to those above with the inclusion of similar probe care features, Probe Cleaning can be programmed at any point in the cycle. When used as a programmer up to 200 programs of 19 steps may be used. The program format is based around basic opcodes for process setpoints, soak times etc., and all the programming features such as editing can be carried out using the instrument keyboard. The CarbPro also has 4 on board digital events which can be input or output and can controll, examine events via suitable relay contacts. These events can be controlled via the program to initiate cycle pilot lights, Probe Clean etc. or examine inputs such as cycle start buttons or door/lid contacts.
Main Advantages:
* Easy expansion to include slave temperature controller at a later date.
* High capacity programmer, 200 x 19 step programs.
* 4 on-board digital events.
Applications:
* Batch Furnace control for programmable %Carbon only.
* Zone control in continuous furnaces.
* Endothermic Gas generators.
3. CarbPro Programmable Heat Chamber Cycle Control System
This system takes the basic CarbPro system, see above, one step further to include temperature control via a slave 1OPro temperature controller. The programmer features can now include setpoint changes for temperature enabling the full carbon potential, time, temperature treatment profile to be programmed. The basic system includes 4 on board digital events as described above but optionally an external event board may be used to provide up to 16 digital events for cycle pilot lights, for example. This system ensures a greater level of repeatability between heat treatment cycles as well as the usual Probe Care facilities.
Main Advantages:
* Full heat chamber control via slave temperature controller, minimum operator input of process variables.
* Optional expansion to 16 digital events.
* Interfaces with existing relay logic or PLC system.
Applications:
* Batch Furnace control with time, temperature and %Carbon.
* Total zone control in continuous furnaces.
* Ideal for heat chamber control of sealed quench furnaces.
4. Computer Control, Monitoring And Documantation System
The programmable heat chamber system described above can be expanded to include the control of all heat treatment parameters via monitoring furnace graphic picture from FAM computer control system. All programm settings can be entered, changed and printed through this computer system.
Main Advantages:
* Program control of all furnace process variables, the minimum operator control of process variables.
* Datalogging for all heat treatment variables.
Applications:
* All FAM programable atmosphere applications
